Learning from the best with SMPF-GFS and Chef Heny Sison

Teachers became students once again as total food solutions provider San Miguel Pure Foods - Great Food Solutions (SMPF-GFS) and chef extraordinaire Heny Sison conducted a baking and cooking demonstration for the delegates of the 16th Annual Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) Convention last January 26 at the Heny Sison Culinary School's newest branch located on Level 5 of Waltermart in Makati City.

The event, which was attended by professors and deans of hotel and restaurant management colleges from all over the Philippines, aimed to share culinary ideas and food preparation techniques using the San Miguel Purefoods products to complement and help nurture the expertise of educators.


"We are educators and we also want to ally with all the other educators. We want to share with COHREP the ideas, knowledge, and expertise we encounter in order to uplift the skills and knowledge of our educators," said Benny Sison, president of the Heny Sison Culinary School.

Apart from building ties with COHREP, SMPF-GFS General Manager Helene Pontejos added, "One of our advocacies is to further hone the talent and skills of our future food industry professionals through the professionals who train them."

The delegates witnessed the culinary flair of Chef Heny with her classic dishes such as the "crunchy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside" pan de sal using SMMI's Bread Mix. She also shared her very own "tried and tested" Italian-style pizza dough recipe using the Baron All-Purpose Flour, which she then used to make her version of the appetizing "queen of pizza" pizza margherita, veggie pizza, and calzone topped by Pure Foods Hormel's premier line of Primo D'Italia pizza toppings which include pepperoni, Italian sausage, beef toppings, Canadian bacon, and chicken toppings. For dessert, Chef Heny whipped mouth-watering fudgy brownies, revel bars, and cookies using SMMI's Brownie Mix and Cookie Mix that went perfectly with either the rich flavors of San Mig Coffee or the refreshing taste of Magnolia Health Tea. All baked and pastry treats were made even more delightful by the trademark goodness of Magnolia Gold Butter.
